our history

buff® ® is the original multifunctional headwear brand

Founded in 1991, BUFF® developed and introduced the seamless tubular headwear category. For 30 years, BUFF® has been driven by innovation and performance, making the BUFF® brand what it is today.

With a passion for motorcycle touring, our founder, Joan Rojas, sought to find a solution to keep his neck and head protected on cross-country rides through the Pyrenees. With access to a family textile mill and his knowledge of tubular knitting, he crafted and tested what would become the first BUFF® Headwear product as he traveled. BUFF® was born.

Partnering with superior manufacturers of raw materials and incorporating trusted fabric technologies such as REPREVE Recycled Microfiber, Primaloft®, GORE-TEX, Merino wool, HEIQ, Insect-Shield® and Polygeine® - BUFF® has built a brand dedicated to Quality, Craftsmanship, Customizable Design and Unique Style Options. The BUFF® product line continues to mindfully grow with Hats, Caps, Gloves, and Arm Sleeves for high UV sun protection to extreme cold weather conditions to keep the fun and adventure outside longer.

The BUFF® brand’s relentless commitment to innovation and progression of the most comfortable, durable, and breathable multifunctional headwear products continues to be fueled by the adventure and passion of those that rely on their product most – on the water, snow, mountains, trails, roads, and gyms. For BUFF® it is about making lasting memories and enjoying the experience along the way – LIVE MORE NOW.
